Sabelka

This long, slender, pointed tomato is perfect for sauce or salads. The name means 'little sword' in Russian and they are similar in shape. The children at the market took particular delight in this variety, The flavor is surprisingly sweet and the texture is firm, so they hold up well in a salad. The fruit is borne in bunches on the narrow-leaved plants and a number will be ripening at any one time. There are only a dozen or so seeds in each tomato, so I don't have a lot this year.
