Canyon de Chelly is now home to the Diné but people have lived in these canyons for nearly 5,000 years. Dine (Navaho) families raise sheep in the area and also dryland farm small plots of land. I am not certain when or how this corn was obtained, but I am told it is very old. It is a beautiful multi-colored flint corn which sets on short, sturdy stalks - often with multiple tillers. Cobs are usually about 10-12 inches long, though there is some variation. Tight husks protect the kernels from insect damage. 90 days to dry-down.
